About
Why CVSet exists
The short version
We built CVSet to solve a shared problem: the need to speed up the process of applying to varying job descriptions. Stemming from our own job search experiences, we recognised that candidates needed a tool to not only tailor their applications but also track their progress and guide them through to the interview stage.
When applying to multiple positions, it's easy to lose track of where you stand with each company. Often, candidates receive unexpected initial screening calls and struggle to recall the specific job description, which makes it difficult to present themselves effectively for that role.
The goal of this platform is to relieve you of the burden of managing documents and tracking applications. CVSet handles the paperwork, so you can focus entirely on what actually matters: enhancing your skills and acing the interview.
What the search actually taught us
Most of what we read about CVs was advice with nothing behind it. These are the things that turned out to be true, and they are the reason the product works the way it does.
The problem is rarely the experience.
It is usually that the CV describes duties instead of outcomes, in language the reader is not scanning for.
Tailoring works, and almost nobody sustains it.
Rewriting a CV per role genuinely helps. Doing it forty times by hand is why people stop.
Generic feedback does not change anything.
"Add more impact" is not actionable. Knowing which line, in which section, and why — that is.
Inventing things is tempting and it backfires.
Anything you cannot defend in an interview is a liability, not an advantage.
How that became the product
Each part of CVSet exists because one of those lessons needed solving. Nothing here was added because it demoed well.
Analyse
Scores your CV across nine dimensions from four different readers' points of view, so "it needs work" becomes a specific line in a specific section.
Optimise
Turns the analysis into changes you can actually make, in your own words, using your own experience.
Tailor
Rewrites your CV against a specific job description, so the fortieth application costs you minutes instead of an evening.
Application support
CVSet also helps you after you apply. It carries you through the rest of the process — cover letter, first-call interview, in-depth interview and follow-up emails. You get both PDF and DOCX versions, in case you want to change something.
What CVSet will never do
- CVSet will never invent anything about you. Not a skill, not a date, not a qualification, not a number. It works only from the experience you already have — the same facts, given better visibility.
- We don't promise interviews, callbacks or offers. Employers decide that.
- We don't write your CV for you. You review every change before it goes anywhere.
- We don't sell your data or use your CV to train models.
Who's behind it
CVSet is a small team based in London.
It is early. Some of what we want to build is not built yet, and we would rather say so than show you a feature grid.
If something is wrong, missing or annoying, tell us. With two of us, your message reaches the person who can change it.
